The water wheel is easy to carry and is packed in a small tube, making it ideal for outdoor adventures. It can be slipped into a backpack and assembled during a break by the stream. No glue is required. When the wooden parts are dipped into water, the wood naturally swells and the pieces hold firmly together.
Once assembled, the wheel is placed into a stream and gently secured using stones or branches as a rest. As the water flows over the wooden blades, the wheel begins to turn, clearly demonstrating cause and effect. Children can experiment with positioning, water speed and support, observing how these changes affect movement.
