KOICHI is Japanese for light of hope, a lovely name for a piece created around the magic of storytelling and childhood imagination. Its beautifully simple form provides the perfect backdrop for puppet shows, fairy tales and adventurous stories, without defining what or how a child should play.
A graceful semicircular opening creates the theatre stage, while a curtain rail allows little performers to add their own curtains and transform the space before the show begins. Two playable levels offer even more possibilities for storytelling and small world play.
And KOICHI is far more than a puppet theatre.
When the performance is over, it can become a beautiful two storey dollhouse, an ice cream parlour, a little shop, a post office or almost anything a child can imagine. Add dolls, wooden animals, miniature furniture, fabrics and favourite treasures and an entirely new world can emerge each day.
