Inspired by the mountain cable cars that carry passengers high above valleys and slopes, this beautifully simple construction kit lets children build their own working wooden gondola and then create a cable route almost anywhere imagination allows.
Stretch the supporting rope between two points at different heights and the adventure begins. Pull the gondola gently back uphill with its second rope, load it with dolls, little animals, building blocks or treasures, then release it and watch gravity carry it down towards the valley below.
The gradient changes everything. A shallow slope gives the passengers a gentle journey; increase the difference in height and the same gondola begins to race. Children quickly discover through play how gravity, slope, tension and distance affect the way it moves.
With 20 metres of supporting rope and 20 metres of pulling rope, the cable car can travel an impressively long way. It works just as beautifully indoors between furniture as it does outdoors between trees, turning an ordinary room or garden into a miniature mountain landscape.
What begins as a satisfying construction project soon becomes imaginative play. Who is travelling today? A family heading into the mountains, a tiny woodland animal crossing a ravine, supplies being carried to a remote cabin, or perhaps a basket of secret messages travelling from one end of the garden to the other?

Take Your Cable Car Further
The Kraul Winch & Station adds another layer of engineering to the Big Cable Car. Used as a winch, it collects the pulling rope and allows the gondola to be held in position.
